This course teaches CRNAs, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and other allied health professionals the crucial skill of point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) as an assessment tool. After completing our online didactic modules and Maverick hands-on lab, you’ll be able to make faster and more accurate diagnoses, improve outcomes, and send home happier and healthier patients.

Once students feel confident in their knowledge of the material, they will test their knowledge with instructors. Upon successful completion of course requirements, each student earns a Certificate of Completion.

Online Didactic Modules

Students must complete the online didactic modules before attending the hands-on lab. The modules are an interactive online learning system that allows students to complete course prerequisites at their own pace and preferred location.

Users can access content from any computer, tablet, or any other device with an Internet connection.

Hands-On Lab

In this 1-Day lab, students apply lessons from the online didactic modules to experiential training exercises in a clinical environment, developing confidence in using the latest ultrasound equipment on live models to perform point-of-care diagnoses. The flipped classroom model ensures our students get the repetitions they need to attain skill in POCUS & Vascular Access.

Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) assessment is quickly becoming an integral way to make a fast and accurate assessment of patients for clinical decision-making. It is performed at the bedside and has been proven to be accurate and repeatable for serial assessments of unstable patients to help guide in their care. Some have stated that “ultrasound will soon replace the stethoscope.”

This course teaches CRNAs, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, physicians and other allied health professionals the crucial skill of point-of-care ultrasound as an assessment tool.

Using Maverick’s proven learning process developed by experts in education and utilizing the “flipped classroom,” students learn at their own pace and at their convenience. The online didactic program consists of 8 modules that guide you through foundational knowledge necessary for the hands-on lab.
